Clint
Black
- Friday, August 15/08
Clint Black is a profound, not
to mention prolific, songwriter. To date, he has
written, recorded and released more than 100 songs,
a benchmark in any artist's career. An astounding
one-third of the songs eligible for single release
achieved hit song status at country radio. He
is an accomplished guitarist, and humbly describes
himself as proficient on drums, harmonica, bass
guitar and any assortment of percussion instruments.
To date, Clint has had nearly two dozen #1 hit
singles, and almost as many Top 5 and Top 10 hits,
all original compositions. Without a doubt, he
has earned his place in country music.

Travis
Tritt
- Saturday, August 16/08
"Growing
up just outside Atlanta, to the north of us you've
got the Grand Ol' Opry in Nashville," Tritt
explains. "A little bit South you've got
Macon, Georgia – home of the Allman Brothers,
the Marshall Tucker Band and Capricorn Records.
And off to the west you've got Delta blues. Sprinkle
Southern gospel over the top of that, and you're
talking about where I came from. I loved all of
that music." To make that point, "You
Never Take Me Dancing," the first single
from The Storm, opens with Tritt's bluesy moans
and a seductive acoustic slide guitar, before
settling into the funkiest groove this side of
Stevie Wonder's "Superstition."

Kris
Kristofferson
- Friday, August 15/08
Kristofferson’s
story is fairly well known: he had a dream—along
with the necessary talent and ambition—to
become a songwriter. After turning down a teaching
position at West Point, the Rhodes Scholar hoped
to get his foot in the door of the music business
by taking a job as a janitor at Columbia Records.
It wasn't long after arriving in Nashville that
he was receiving armloads of acclaim and being
hailed as one of America’s clearest and
most important voices, having penned such classics
as “Me and Bobby McGee,” “Sunday
Morning Coming Down,” “For the Good
Times,” and many others

Earl
Scruggs With Family & Friends
- Sunday, August 17/08
Earl
lived on a farm and helped tend it after his father
died. As a teenager, he attended high school in
Boiling Springs, North Carolina. With his school,
farm work and other chores, his pass time became
the five-string banjo and he spent every spare
moment playing it. He was fascinated with the
instrument. He bought a Gibson RB-11 that he owned
when he began playing professionally. The one
he has played over the years is a Gibson Granada.
It was once owned by Snuffy Jenkins who purchased
it for $37.50 in a pawn shop in South Carolina.

Tracy
Byrd - Friday, August 15/08
Tracy Byrd
has always been something of a maverick. Like
his heroes, Haggard and Jones, Tracy Byrd is in
it for the long haul. "I feel I still have
a lot to offer in music," he states. "When
I first started, I thought I'd have maybe a five-year
career because that's what was happening to most
people. But we kept plugging along and kept working,
building a great fan base, and we've been able
to stay around. I'm just tickled to death. I want
to see it through to 20 years and beyond."

Johnny
Reid - Thursday, August
14/08
If
Johnny Reid’s music defies easy definition
it’s because the stories he tells have more
than their fair share of miles on them. From Scotland,
to Canada, to Nashville, the ground he’s
covered lends a depth of soul to his songs that
sets them apart. Interest grew in Johnny’s
unique voice over the life of his debut record
as songs from Born To Roll hit the top twenty
repeatedly and ‘Missing an Angel’
went #1 on the BDS chart. Johnny has since then
been named the 2006 CCMA ‘Rising Star of
the Year’, 2006 and 2007 CCMA ‘Independent
Male Artist of the Year’

Tippin performed
his first Nashville nightclub show in 1990, and
it earned him a contract with RCA records. His

go to the Persian Gulf with Bob Hope, to entertain
the troops. Then, in 1992, Aaron's single "There
Ain't Nothin' Wrong With the Radio" stayed
at No. 1 for three weeks. Aaron has recorded nine

by sneaking up to the windows of clubs to absorb

Gilley's. The club would grow and one day be known
as the world's largest honky-tonk.

Joe
Diffie

you thought he’d be. When you hear him sing,
you can feel the honesty in his words. Joe’s
songs have been recorded by Holly Dunn, Tim McGraw,
Tracy Lawrence, Conway Twitty, Doug Stone, and

the daughter of legendary and beloved June Carter
Cash and Country Music Hall of Famer Carl Smith,
Carlene is heir to one of the richest musical
legacies of all time. Carlene's grandmother, Maybelle
Carter, helped to lay the foundation for American
country music through pioneering recordings in

world a revolutionary guitar style known to this
day as "the Carter Scratch"

Connie
Smith
- Sunday,
August 17/08
Connie Smith moved from being a small-town Ohio
housewife to country stardom with a number one
single to her credit. Perhaps overly compared
to and identified with Patsy Cline, Smith is still
considered by many to be one of the best and most
underrated vocalists in country history. Her lonely
desperation came straight from the heart. Fellow
artists and members of the Country Music industry
voted her as #9 of the 40 Greatest Women of Country
Music of all time (CMT).

Jason
D Williams
- Saturday,
August 16/08
& Sunday,
August 17/08
Enthusiastic,
Reckless, Stormy, Rock & Roll in its natural
state ... This explains why the Kansas City Star
pronounced Jason D. Williams as "the past
and future of rock & roll." The Beacon
Journal dubbed him as "The world's greatest
piano player." Most importantly this reminds
you of why you got into rock & roll in the
first place, to get a little wild. After
seeing a live show there will be no doubt why
fans and critics alike agree with that summation
of the dynamic piano player from Memphis. Jason
D. has the same musical on the edge attitude as
Jerry Lee and Elvis.

The
Good Brothers
- Saturday,
August 16/08
Music,
straight from the heart that encompasses country,
bluegrass and folk. Fiddle tunes flow as do original
and cover songs, highlighted by Larry’s
banjo breaks, Bruce’s award winning autoharp
styles, their unique sibling harmonies and enough
on-stage energy to burn down the corn field. It
wasn’t long before The Good Brothers were
packing Toronto’s fabled El Macombo five
nights a week; breaking bar records, attendance
records and exhausting determined dancers. Then
there were eight straight Juno awards.

her roots and the path that has been laid out for
her. Always the consummate professional. She writes,

just a few short years, Yellowbird has gone from
quietly pursuing a fine arts degree at Red Deer
College to a budding country music star, with a
hot selling record, major awards and nominations,
and two Top 10 radio hits and videos to his credit.
Close to his heart, the album’s title track

Jessie
Farrell - Friday, August 15/08
"I
know exactly what I want to do: I want to hear my
music on the radio, I want to tour. I want people
weaving up and down the grocery store aisles to
sing along to my songs. I have put every single
cell of my body into this; I feel like I’ve
put my recipe together, and this is my cake."
Jessie is passionate about her music, and that emotion
infuses her whole musical package, whether listening
to her powerfully-candid melodies or by witnessing
one of her goose-pimple-inducing live performances.
